China Communications Construction Company Malacca Project Management Emergency Rescue of a Nearby Resident’s Suicide Attempt by Jumping into the Sea
On December 21, 2018, during a routine work site safety and quality inspection, a staff of the Malacca Project management team of China Communications Construction Company (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.; a member of the Association of Chinese Enterprises accidentally came across a man attempted suicide by jumping into the sea.
Upon spotted the situation, the Project management staff initiated emergency rescue on the man immediately by jumping into the sea. At the same time, another worker whom is a good swimmer got hold of a life jacket followed suit. On the other hand, another staff called the Fire and Rescue Department of Malacca (BOMBA) without further delay. About five minutes later, the suicidal man was successfully rescued to the shore, while the firemen arrived at the site about the same time. Fortunately, the man was still conscious and it was no life threatening issues.
After some inquiries, it was learned that the man was a nearby resident and attempt to commit suicide by jumping into the sea due to some family conflicts. The firemen persuaded the man and arranged for his family to take good care of him. After much persuasion, the man finally expressed his willingness to give up his idea of committing suicide. At the same time, the firemen and other nearby residents highly praised the quick and efficient rescue operation of our company’s project management team!
During this emergency rescue, the project management team of China Communications Construction Company (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. ensured life and safety of the personnel as the first priority in the event of any emergency, took appropriate measures actively, carried forward the humanitarian spirit and successfully established a good image of Chinese enterprises in the local community.
